What is mRNA anyway? mRNA is a messenger that creates proteins. OK, let me simplify this even more. Imagine mRNA as the command you speak out loud to Alexa. When you say, “Hey Alexa, do “whatever “……”, she will do “whatever” it is that you command. Magically the lights come on, or maybe they even change colors. The message you sent to Alexa is a command, allowing your spoken message to happen in real life. mRNA is the same, but the message it sends, commands your body to produce different types of protein.
Let’s imagine mRNA doing this same thing in your body. Did you know, mRNA actually stands for messenger ribonucleic acid (RNA). Nerd fact! HAHAHAHA! Yeah, I am the only one laughing. I know! My nerd humor comes out every now and then. The messages our RNA sends determines what proteins our body creates. mRNA sends one message. Voila! You have a certain type of protein. mRNA sends a different message. VOILA! Now another upgraded type of protein is created.
mRNA does this same exact thing in the COVID vaccine. mRNA sends a message to our body to produce the protein spike of the COVID virus. Magically your body will produce the coronavirus protein spikes. Then after our body is familiar with how the virus looks, it is better equipped to fight off the actual virus when it occurs. Did you pick up that detail? “Better equipped to fight off”.…. the mRNA vaccines will NOT prevent COVID, but they are meant to help make your symptoms milder. How will this be affected by virus mutations? No one knows yet how effective these vaccines will be with the new mutations. Time will tell. I can guarantee you one thing …. the vaccine DOES NOT PREVENT COVID, the vaccine is meant to PREVENT DEATH from COVID. I personally know several healthcare workers who tested positive for COVID after the first vaccine and others who tested positive after the second.
Previously, mRNA vaccines were being created to help cancer patients. What if we could administer vaccines that are able to specifically target the tumor itself? Pretty freaking amazing if you ask me, but it was never brought into reality. Studies are ongoing. Nothing is being brought into the public market for cancer at this time. There is not enough research for how the mRNA vaccine works in the body for the FDA to approve these vaccines. So why are mRNA vaccines being released in the public now?
In a nutshell, we are in the middle of a pandemic. The mRNA vaccines approved by Pfizer and Moderna were authorized for emergency use. The COVID vaccines are the very first mRNA vaccines approved for use in the public. The entire world is currently an active research study being conducted in real-time. Officials decided to move past the usual steps and administer the vaccine in the hopes of controlling the COVID virus. What are the long-term side effects of an mRNA vaccine in the human body? TBD. How effective are the mRNA vaccines against COVID? The 95% efficacy is from reports prior to the mutations, so this is TBD as well.
Outside of the basic information with what an mRNA vaccine is and what the COVID mRNA vaccine does, no one knows yet. Anyone who claims to know is grasping onto false hope. There are not any past studies in the public. If you want to know what we know in healthcare, google search and read research from oncology studies using mRNA vaccines, read research studies from SARS and the current SARS-CoV-2. There you go. This is as much as anyone knows at this time. This is reality. Until we see how it plays out in the public, we will not know.
